About the Origins of the Association

The Aikido Association Germany e.V. grew out of an informal, national, and international network of enthusiastic Aikidoka, friendly dojos, Aikido groups, and teachers of various backgrounds that has existed since approximately 2006. Many of these members have been bound by friendship for many years.

In 2019, the Aikido Association Germany e.V. was registered as a non-profit organization and received official recognition from the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo.

The high-ranking founding members studied under various Japanese and European Aikido teachers, many of whom were direct students of the founder of Aikido.

In addition to decades of personal experience in practice, seminars, and teaching, they bring a corresponding depth of expertise, diversity, and openness to the association.

The core of our shared practice is a focus on the Founder's AIKI principles rather than an adherence to specific 'Aikido styles.' Nevertheless, there are, of course, particularly significant influences from major students of O Sensei.

Under the "Gallery" button, you will find pictures of the founder, the Doshus, the current Dojocho of the Hombu Dojo, and various teachers who have had a significant influence on the development of the association's instructors.
